Walking Leg: Detailed Information

This document provides key information for each section of the Walk for Truth, including start and finish locations, toilet access, FAQs, and other essential details to support your participation.

As we gather on Country, we invite you to wear your values—visibly and proudly. Whether through clothing, jewellery, artwork, or symbols, what we wear can honour culture, spark conversation, and demonstrate respect for the First Peoples and communities we walk alongside. Choose attire that reflects your commitment to truth-telling, justice and solidarity.

Parliament Leg

Day 25: Wednesday 18th June - Kings Domain to Parliament House

Event Information: The final day of the Walk for Truth begins at Kings Domain (outside Sidney Myer Music Bowl / King George Monument, South Yarra),  before setting off through the city to the steps of Parliament House, where the Walk for Truth will conclude with a ceremony. After the ceremony, you’re invited to stay in the CBD for a community celebration at Federation Square later in the afternoon.

Distance: Approximately 5 km

Registrations Open: 8:30 AM
Walk Start Time: 10 AM
Location: Kings Domain located outside Sidney Myer Music Bowl / King George Monument, South Yarra. You can walk or catch a tram from the city.

Walk Finish Time (estimate): 10:45 AM
Location: Parliament House

Toilets: There will be public toilets at both the start and finish points.

Parking: The nearest car parking is on Birdwood Avenue and St Kilda Road (ticketing required). Disabled access bays are opposite the Shrine on both sides of Birdwood Avenue.

Tram: Take any southbound tram from Federation Square (except route number 1) to stop 19 Shrine of Remembrance.

What else is on during the day? On arriving at Parliament, there will be a presentation of the final Yoorrook Submission. After, you’re invited to stay in the CBD for a community celebration at Federation Square starting at 2:00 PM.

What to bring (see FAQs for further details):

  • Food and water for the day - there will be limited access to refreshments. Please bring a reusable water bottle.
  • Comfortable walking shoes and clothing suitable for the weather; and wear your values to show your support.
  • The Walk will go ahead rain, hail or shine - please come prepared.
  • You are responsible for your own transport to and from the event. Each walk endpoint will be accessible by public transport or pickup.

Please note: The team is unable to provide transport to or from the start and finish points and cannot support camping along the walking route. Parts of the track are rough and unsuitable for prams or bikes. Please take all rubbish home with you.
